Listen to Shift Your Beliefs: Shift Your World as author and speaker Barbara Joye, The Shift Guru, speaks with Hakuin Rose as she discusses her process of understanding the themes of her life and how shifting the approach to an experience shifts the living of the experience.

Hakuin is currently enjoying a thriving practice as a therapeutic massage therapist in the community of Blacksburg, Virginia. Her practice is named One Crane Rising and her lovely studio is in the Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Clinic with Dr. Robert Smith. This is her fifth career. She has been a teacher and a school principal at all three levels in Virginia, Vermont, and California. She has owned a construction management company which rebuilt a townhome community after the Northridge, California earthquake of 1994. She has remodeled houses, including the development of a “crack house” into a beautiful urban retreat called Hidden Mountain Zen Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. And finally, Rose directed a yoga retreat center on Maui and later owned and operated Bamboo Mountain Sanctuary on Maui, a center for Zen Buddhism, yoga, and personal retreats.

Throughout all this career work, Rose raised a family of two beautiful beings, Michael and Mary Grace and engaged with all her heart in the spiritual practices of Zen Buddhism, yoga, and the Native American red road.

Hakuin, with her wealth of experience and knowing, shares her own processes and awarenesses. In this conversation, Rose tells us about her life experiences and her life patterns. She shares the life review process she utilizes, the experiences she has had, and her utilization of the information to identify the trends and themes for her next year or more. With this information, Rose is able to better understand the challenges and obstacles that occur in her life and how best to experience them and morph them into her life.
